The Canadian visa system has several programs tailored to specific groups of people. One such program is the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), which is made explicitly for foreign professionals in healthcare, engineering, and technical careers.
To determine whether a foreign worker qualifies for the FSWP, a points system is used. Professionals applying must be skilled and have prior work experience in the qualifying occupation. Work experience in a full-time paid job in the individual’s field of specialty for at least one year in the previous ten years is required.
